About Avi Fox Creative
-
I offer strategic website design, branding, photography, and business consulting for small businesses, nonprofits, and creative professionals. Every project starts with strategy — helping you get clear on your message, your systems, and your digital presence so they actually support the way you want to work and live.
-
I'm based in Gray, Maine (about 30 minutes north of Portland), and originally built my business in Pennsylvania. Photography requires me to be on the ground in Maine or PA, but all website design, business consulting, and Reiki services are fully virtual and available globally — I currently work with clients in California, Washington, Michigan, Illinois, Italy, and Africa.
-
I personally lead and drive every project to keep the strategy and vision cohesive. I pull in trusted specialists for specific design or administrative work as needed — a model that keeps execution seamless without unnecessary overhead.
-
I've been self-employed since graduating college in 2010 — over 15 years of building and running my own solo and lifestyle businesses across very different industries, from pilates instructor to personal chef to home organizer, before locking into photography in 2011. From 2014 to 2018 I ran Wild Mantle, an ethical fashion brand, alongside the photography practice. In 2018 I shifted focus to consulting and website design, and completed my Reiki certification in 2022–2023.
What makes my perspective distinct is two things working together. First, I've spent 15+ years navigating the solo self-employed lifestyle firsthand — so I understand that world at a depth that comes only from living it. Second, for the past 8 years I've worked as a consultant inside hundreds of other businesses — from solo operators to organizations with 75 employees, and institutions including higher education and healthcare — seeing the inner workings, the patterns, what makes things tick, and what causes things to fail. That combination of lived experience and a large cross-industry data set is what I bring to every client engagement.
Earlier, in college, I founded Narberth Greens, a nonprofit environmental organization — which is where I first discovered I had a real skill set for building values-driven organizations and rallying people around a shared mission.
-
It's a relaxed, no-pressure conversation about your goals, challenges, and what success looks like for your business. You'll leave with a clear sense of possible next steps and whether working together is a good fit. There's no pitch or hard sell.
Website Design
-
My process starts with strategy, not templates. I build on Squarespace because it's secure, flexible, and the easiest platform for clients to manage after launch — so you're not dependent on a developer every time you need to make a change. I focus on structure, messaging, and usability just as much as visual design, because your site should work as a business tool, not just a brochure.
-
All websites are built on Squarespace. Depending on the project, I also integrate email marketing platforms like Substack or Brevo, scheduling tools like Calendly, payment systems, and eCommerce functionality.
-
It depends on scope. Simple landing pages can often be completed in a few weeks. Larger website and branding packages are typically paced over two to six months to give the brand room to develop properly. Rush timelines are available for an additional fee.
-
A Website Coaching Package is a budget-friendly alternative to a full website build. Instead of me building your site for you, I provide my Squarespace checklists, frameworks, and guidance and coach you through building it yourself. It's a good fit for business owners who have the time to do the hands-on work but want expert structure and support along the way. Coaching packages are drawn from a flexible 10-hour block that can also be applied toward strategy or consulting work.
-
Yes, on select projects. Photography is available through Avi Fox Photography, which operates alongside Avi Fox Creative under the same practice. When photography is part of a project, shoots are planned intentionally around layout, storytelling, and technical needs — so your images and site design work together from the start.
-
Yes. All websites are connected to Google Search Console and configured with Squarespace's built-in SEO settings — with the exception of Website Coaching Packages, where I walk you through those steps yourself. Google Analytics is available as an optional add-on for clients who want deeper reporting over time.
-
AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization. While traditional SEO focuses on ranking for keywords, AEO structures your content so it can be pulled directly as an answer by AI tools, voice search, and smart assistants. As more people ask questions rather than type keywords, showing up in those results matters. I build all websites with this in mind — using clear headings, conversational language, and structured content that answers real questions your potential clients are already asking.
-
Projects follow a clear, phased structure with shared Google folders, defined milestones, and regular check-ins. You have visibility throughout — I handle the technical build and integrations behind the scenes.
-
Yes — that's one of the main reasons I build on Squarespace. You'll be able to make edits without a developer. Full ownership transfers to you upon payment, and everything is organized and delivered in your shared Google folder.
-
After launch there's a handoff meeting and documentation so you're comfortable navigating and editing your site. Any future ideas we capture during the build get noted so you can revisit them when the time is right.
Business & Operations Consulting
-
I help entrepreneurs, creatives, and small business owners align their vision, operations, and tools so the business runs more smoothly. That includes business model clarity, revenue strategy, brand positioning, and operational execution.
-
Both. Strategy without execution doesn't move things forward, and implementation without clarity creates chaos. I bridge both — helping you define what matters most, then building the structures, workflows, and playbooks to support it.
-
Operations work can include tools and software audits, cost reduction, workflow automation, project tracking dashboards, team onboarding processes, documentation, and AI tool integration. The goal is always systems that are usable — not overbuilt.
-
I work with the consumer-friendly platforms that most small business owners are already using or considering — for example, Squarespace (my preferred platform and where I do my strongest work), Wix, Canva, Calendly, Dubsado, Harvest, Google Workspace, Google Business Profile, and Google Search Console, among others. I'm not a programmer — my expertise is in helping you use these tools strategically and efficiently, not building custom technical solutions.
-
Yes. AI tool integration is part of my operations consulting work. I help small business owners identify where AI can genuinely reduce friction and save time — and just as importantly, where it's not the right fit. I currently work with Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini and help clients figure out which tools align with how they actually think and work. The goal is thoughtful integration, not adoption for its own sake.
-
Both are available. Some engagements are focused sprints — like reorganizing shared drives or building a dashboard. Others are longer partnerships supporting pivots, growth phases, leadership transitions, or launching new revenue streams.
-
Yes. Many clients continue working with me after an initial project wraps — whether that's ongoing consulting, operational support, or periodic strategy sessions as their business evolves. If that's something you're interested in, it's worth mentioning on your discovery call so we can factor it into how we structure the engagement.
-
Most consulting focuses only on tactics and metrics. My approach integrates strategy and systems with the human side of running a business — including the internal patterns like burnout, perfectionism, and decision fatigue that quietly derail good plans. Because I've spent 15+ years running my own businesses and 8 years working inside hundreds of others, I bring a large, real-world cross-industry data set to what actually works and what doesn't. The result is that changes actually stick.
-
Yes. I have a long history of working with nonprofits and genuinely enjoy it — my own roots in values-driven organizational work go back to founding a nonprofit in college. I bring the same strategic and operational approach to nonprofits as I do to small businesses. Note that I don't offer a nonprofit discount, but I'm happy to discuss scope and budget on a discovery call to find an approach that works.
-
Clients typically experience clearer messaging, stronger business alignment, and increased confidence in decision-making. Many also see improved lead conversion and a meaningful reduction in working hours by streamlining their funnel and eliminating inefficient workflows.
Working Together: Logistics & Investment
-
It depends on the scope of work. Here's a general overview:
Pay-as-you-go strategy sessions are available at $225 and can be booked directly here. These are ideal for focused, one-time strategic support.
A flexible 10-hour block is $1,650 and can be applied toward coaching, strategy, or a Website Coaching Package where I guide you through building your own site.
Full website builds typically start at $3,500, with larger and more complex projects ranging up to $20,000 depending on scope and inclusions.
All projects are custom-quoted and vary widely in scope — a discovery call is the best way to get a realistic sense of investment for your specific needs.
-
Yes. With the exception of pay-as-you-go strategy sessions, all projects begin with a deposit to get started, with payments structured as the work progresses. There's no large single outlay upfront. Payment details are outlined clearly in your letter of engagement.
-
Yes. Every client engagement begins with a letter of engagement that includes a defined scope of work and confidentiality terms. I'm also happy to sign an NDA on your side if that's helpful or required. Discretion is something I take seriously — being trusted with the inner workings of someone's business is not something I take lightly.
-
If you're looking for help with your WordPress site, I'm probably not your person — and honestly, that's kind of why this business exists. So many of my early photography clients came to me frustrated with WordPress: they couldn't easily edit their sites, things felt clunky, and they felt stuck every time they needed to make a simple change. WordPress absolutely has its place, but my passion is helping people build sites they can confidently own and update themselves after we're done working together.
I'm also not the right fit if you don't have a budget. I run a business too, and I bring my best to every client — I work fast, I'm efficient, and I care deeply about the outcome. That takes real time and energy. You don't need a massive budget to work together (strategy sessions start at $225/hour and 10 hour flexible packages start at $1650),, but we do need to be honest with each other from the start about what's realistic. When expectations and budget are aligned, that's when I can really deliver.
If that sounds like your kind of working relationship, you're in the right place.
Reiki & the Integrated Approach
-
I'm a certified Reiki practitioner, and I bring that lens into my consulting work for clients who want to integrate an energetic approach alongside the strategic one. I'm deeply intuitive by nature, and I love working with clients who lead with intuition and want that voice honored — not just the spreadsheet.
My core differentiator is that I work on both the business and the person running it. After 8 years inside hundreds of small businesses, I've seen clearly that what holds most people back isn't a strategy problem — it's an internal one. Reiki addresses that layer directly. It's what allows the strategic work to actually land.
-
Reiki is a gentle energy-based modality that helps calm the nervous system and clear internal resistance. In the context of business consulting, it's a tool for working through the blocks — burnout, fear, perfectionism, stuckness — that prevent execution even when the strategy is sound. It doesn't replace the practical work. It makes the practical work possible.
-
No. Reiki is not therapy and I am not a licensed therapist. It's a different modality that can complement — but does not replace — professional mental health support. My lens comes from lived business experience and intuitive practice, not clinical training.
-
No belief is required. Sessions are client-led and grounding. Many analytical, practical clients find value simply through deep relaxation and the space to reconnect with their own clarity.
-
Sessions may include gentle energy work, intuitive insights, and time for reflection. You're welcome to come with a specific topic or simply arrive as you are.
-
In-person sessions are available at my home office in Gray, Maine. Remote sessions are available by phone or video to clients anywhere in the world.
-
People navigating transitions, recovering from burnout, feeling stuck despite knowing what they need to do, or wanting to lead their business from a place of clarity rather than pressure.
